A contract is a tool to make sure that each party entering an agreement understands what is expected of them, and the ramifications of not meeting those expectations. Even if your company has a legal department or retains lawyers to draft contracts, you still need the skills to review what the customer requires from your company. Why? Because legal departments speak a different language than technical and sales departments, and they can easily miss the real risk that resides in the technical part of a sale.
It is particularly important for the salesperson to understand what constitutes a good contract, and how to negotiate with a customer because it is often the salesperson who is responsible for putting together sales documentation packages. In this course, you will learn the potential pitfalls and costs associated with contract items, and how to avoid them.
